Ginger/Raspberry Leaf Tea
Anti-inflammatory for endometriosis
When I got diagnosed with endometriosis I changed my diet and started taking supplements. My period pain didn’t seem to improve, I thought I was doing everything right but still nothing was helping. I knew I had to do more, I knew I couldn’t just simply follow the endometriosis diet. When I started the endo diet all I was doing was eliminating food from my diet, but it is just as important to add the correct food as it is to eliminate the inflammatory food.
This is what my 3 month program is all about, in the program we will eliminate inflammatory food, but we will also introduce important anti-inflammatory, probiotic rich food, and so much more. ginger raspberry leaf tea will be added to the diet and is very beneficial to women with endometriosis.
I added ginger raspberry leaf tea into my diet about a year after I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I drank it once a day for a month and when my first period came I still threw up but my cramps weren’t as bad and I only threw up twice, by my second period I only threw up once. My period was improving and by my third period I didn’t throw up at all, I had minimal period pain, and I didn’t need to take any ibuprofen. To this day I try to drink one cup of ginger raspberry leaf tea a day and I have not thrown up on my period since.
Ginger raspberry leaf tea saved me from vomiting every month and taking ibuprofen every month (which is horrible for your liver and the liver is very important for detoxing excess estrogen).
Why does ginger raspberry tea help so much?
Raspberry leaf tea has been used for women’s health for a long time. you often hear about pregnant women drinking raspberry leaf tea because it boosts blood flow to the uterus and strengthens the uterine muscle fibers.
Raspberry leaf tea isn’t just for pregnant women it can be beneficial for all women especially women with endometriosis but why?
Raspberry leaf tea has a lot of vitamins in it that are very beneficial to women with endometriosis
Beta carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B complex, potassium, calcium, iron, and magnesium (for more information about supplements for endometriosis a free supplement checklist will be coming soon!)
What do these vitamins do for endometriosis?
Beta carotene is an antioxidant that helps your immune system fight free radicals and endometrial adhesion’s. Antioxidants can help protect your cells from damage and inflammation.
Vitamin C helps protect us against bacteria, viruses, and abnormal cell development. It is easier for the body to heal and fight inflammation if it’s not constantly fighting off sicknesses.
Vitamin E helps nourish the brain cells which helps with the anxiety, mood swings, and depression symptoms of endometriosis.
Vitamin B complex is very important for women with endometriosis because it helps support the liver, this helps detox the bad estrogen that contributes to endometriosis.
Potassium also supports the liver.
Calcium is needed to relax our bodies muscles, deficiency in calcium results in hyperactive muscles including the uterine muscles that control abdominal cramps.
Magnesium helps with constipation and cramping during bowl movement.
Iron is important during your period, getting enough iron can combat the anemia often experienced by women with heavy menstrual cycles.
How does raspberry leaf tea help menstrual cramping?
Raspberry leaf tea helps tone and tighten muscles in the pelvic area. This may help reduce the menstrual cramping caused by the spasms of the muscles.
Red raspberry leaf tea helps in balancing hormones, strengthening the immune system, and slowing down blood flow when your menstruating.
The potassium, iron and B vitamins help reduce cramping and nausea and keep your energy up.
I add fresh ginger to my raspberry leaf tea not only because I love the flavor of ginger but also because it has anti-inflammatory properties and can help in managing inflammation caused by endometriosis.
Benefits of fresh ginger include;
- treats nausea
- Anti-inflammatory
- Reduce muscle pain and sourness
- Helps digestion
- Cold and flu relief
- Natural way to relieve period pain
Research has been done on gingers pain-relieving properties and they have found that it can be effective in helping with menstrual pain. Drinking ginger tea can also soothe nausea during your period.
four ways I make my ginger raspberry leaf tea: in every tea I grate about a tablespoon of fresh ginger and add a tablespoon of loose-leaf raspberry leaf tea
- Grated ginger, raspberry leaf tea in hot water (this is my simple winter option)
- Grated ginger, raspberry leaf tea, peppermint tea and honey (optional) in hot water (this is my extra flavor cozy winter option)
- Grated ginger, raspberry leaf tea steeped in hot water then iced (simple summer option)
- Grated ginger, raspberry leaf tea, peppermint tea and honey (optional) steeped in hot water then add almond milk and ice (my favorite creamy summer option!)
You can make your ginger raspberry leaf tea however you want to. I sometimes add honey in it and sometimes I prefer it without honey. Sometimes I add different flavors of tea other than peppermint, but I always put fresh ginger and raspberry leaf tea. These are the two most important ingredients to get the benefits form this tea.
